Welcome to the Midwest Education Community Forum
Nothing is more important than educating our children—and in our rapidly changing world, few things are more challenging! This discussion, facilitated by Public Agenda on behalf of the Regional Education Laboratory Midwest (REL Midwest) is intended to give parents a chance to talk to each other about issues facing our schools and kids. Previous forums have addressed education areas such as classroom management and student achievement, special education, and teacher quality.
For this Community Forum we are focusing on a topic of growing importance to parents and students: math and science training. How do you perceive the quality of math and science training in the classroom? What has been your experience as parents working with your schools around math and science education? What recommendations do you have for improving the quality of math and science education for your children?
Over the next three days (September 24-26th) we will be discussing what you think about the quality of math and science education in your schools, and what you would like to see done to improve or change this area of learning. Public Agenda and REL-Midwest are interested to know what you think.
Forum Overview & Instructions
We’re expecting an open, honest, and respectful exchange of views—please take a moment to review the guidelines for discussion below. With your advice, the REL-Midwest and Public Agenda can bring the latest and best research and proven practices to school improvement efforts.
Click on the discussion tab above to learn more about the Community Forum topics and begin the dialogue for improving math and science education in your schools, so please visit often to participate in the dialogue (you can post as many times as you like) and check for other event announcements. Thank you for your contribution!
Public Agenda will moderate the discussion and introduce various topics as “food for thought” during the event. Whenever possible, please treat this exchange of views as a dialogue. We hope that you will respond to one another’s comments directly, in addition to posting independent thoughts. And of course, while we don’t imagine that everyone will agree with each other on everything (and how boring it would be if we did!) we do expect a civil and respectful exchange of ideas.
